BASF has created a better dicamba from the molecule up: Engenia® herbicide

To give growers the weed control they’ve been missing, BASF created Engenia herbicide — the most flexible and advanced dicamba for dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton.

Engenia® Herbicide Stewardship Portal

Dicamba-specific training is required for applicators before applying Engenia herbicide or other approved dicamba herbicide formulations labeled for dicamba tolerant soybeans and cotton. This portal provides you with a host of resources, tools, information and training to help you get the most out of your herbicide applications and have the best growing season possible.

As the inventors of dicamba, BASF wiped the slate clean and built a new dicamba from the molecule up. With a heavier molecular weight and a stronger chemical bond, Engenia herbicide, with proper application, delivers an effective, on-target solution growers desperately need.

With its additional site of action, Engenia herbicide is effective on more than 200 broadleaf weeds including glyphosate-resistant weeds. It’s a broad-spectrum solution that controls the toughest broadleaf weeds like Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, velvetleaf, morningglory and giant ragweed.

There are currently 17 species of glyphosate-resistant weeds in the U.S., with 38 states affected by at least one species.

The number of herbicide-resistant weeds in each state is growing.* If not controlled, weed pressure can result in total crop loss in severe cases.1

As the inventors of dicamba, BASF has more than 50 years of experience in developing and improving dicamba for effective applications to meet evolving grower needs.

Engenia® herbicide is the most flexible and advanced dicamba for dicamba-tolerant crops.

Engenia herbicide is formulated to provide maximum flexibility with the lowest use rate of all dicamba products on the market, reducing the number of trips into the fields and sprayer loading time.

With a lower use rate, growers can stock less product and save more space.

When you use Engenia herbicide, you’ll apply at a rate of 12.8 ounces per acre, the lowest use rate when compared to any competitive product.

Direct Injection

With an option for direct injection, farmers can cover more acres with the same input volume. And more coverage with one tank fill means fewer trips back to refill, which can save significant time and money.

Benefits of direct injection include:

  • Allowing growers to clean out a sprayer in one-third the time of a conventional unit.
  • That hour saved lets growers cover another 200+ acres before cleaning, giving growers a more efficient application window in the spring.
  • Minimizing cleaning time by involving only a few hoses and not an entire system.
  • Allowing for turning off the Engenia herbicide flow in buffer areas without having to stop and clean.

Weed Control System

Engenia herbicide is part of a complete weed control system, providing a crop-safe, simple and reliable herbicide option following a residual herbicide to control even the toughest weeds.

Our industry-leading weed control portfolio is just one part of a complete acre approach.

A system approach delivers proven efficacy.

BASF studies show that a combination of Engenia herbicide and BASF residual herbicides control more than 95 percent of both grasses and problematic broadleaf weeds.
