BASF has created a better dicamba from the molecule up: Engenia® herbicide

To give growers the weed control they’ve been missing, BASF created Engenia herbicide — the most flexible and advanced dicamba for dicamba-tolerant soybeans and cotton.

Engenia® Herbicide Stewardship Portal

Dicamba-specific training is required for applicators before applying Engenia herbicide or other approved dicamba herbicide formulations labeled for dicamba tolerant soybeans and cotton. This portal provides you with a host of resources, tools, information and training to help you get the most out of your herbicide applications and have the best growing season possible.

As the inventors of dicamba, BASF wiped the slate clean and built a new dicamba from the molecule up. With a heavier molecular weight and a stronger chemical bond, Engenia herbicide, with proper application, delivers an effective, on-target solution growers desperately need.

With its additional site of action, Engenia herbicide is effective on more than 200 broadleaf weeds including glyphosate-resistant weeds. It’s a broad-spectrum solution that controls the toughest broadleaf weeds like Palmer amaranth, waterhemp, velvetleaf, morningglory and giant ragweed.

There are currently 17 species of glyphosate-resistant weeds in the U.S., with 38 states affected by at least one species.

The number of herbicide-resistant weeds in each state is growing.* If not controlled, weed pressure can result in total crop loss in severe cases.1

Engenia® herbicide is the most flexible and advanced dicamba for dicamba-tolerant crops.

Flexibility

Engenia herbicide is formulated to provide maximum flexibility with the lowest use rate of all dicamba products on the market, reducing the number of trips into the fields and sprayer loading time.

With a lower use rate, growers can stock less product and save more space.

When you use Engenia herbicide, you’ll apply at a rate of 12.8 ounces per acre, the lowest use rate when compared to any competitive product.

Direct Injection

With an option for direct injection, farmers can cover more acres with the same input volume. And more coverage with one tank fill means fewer trips back to refill, which can save significant time and money.

Benefits of direct injection include:

  • Allowing growers to clean out a sprayer in one-third the time of a conventional unit.
  • That hour saved lets growers cover another 200+ acres before cleaning, giving growers a more efficient application window in the spring.
  • Minimizing cleaning time by involving only a few hoses and not an entire system.
  • Allowing for turning off the Engenia herbicide flow in buffer areas without having to stop and clean.

PPO timelapse videos:

Do You Have the Best Plan for Your Dicamba-Tolerant Soybeans?

  • Over the last 10 years, the number of growers reporting glyphosate resistance has grown by 300%.1
  • Over the last 3 years, the number of acres reported to have PPO resistance has increased by nearly 50%.1
  • The number of glyphosate resistant infested acres has grown on average by 15% annually since 2010.1

Weed resistance can begin with a few missed escapes and quickly spread across the entire field and then across your farm. Consequences of an ineffective weed control program include:

  • Increasing seed bank for more problems in the future
  • Additional trips across the field for resprays that cost time and money
  • Lost yield. Only achieving 90% Palmer amaranth control has been shown to reduce soybean yields by up to 27%.2

To Beat the Worst Weeds, You Need the Best Performing Tool

Engenia® Herbicide – The Most Flexible and Advanced Dicamba for DT Soybeans

You will only have one chance for the best postemerge weed control. Take advantage of the best weed control tools that are available to you. Growers recognize that Engenia herbicide is the best for heavy weed pressure, broadleaf weed control, and control of glyphosate and PPO resistant weeds.1

BASF research has shown that Engenia herbicide is better at controlling pigweeds than Flexstar® GT ondicamba-tolerant soybeans. That better weed control also resulted in a 4 bu/A yield increase.

Engenia herbicide is the best option to improve your weed control program in DT soybeans.

  • Controls glyphosate and PPO resistant broadleaves
  • Its unique systemic activity provides consistent performance
  • Engenia herbicide has lower use rate compared to other postemerge options to cover more acres with less product

Growers can be confident in their decision to choose Engenia Herbicide. Engenia Herbicide is the most advanced dicamba backed by advanced support from BASF, including the Weed Control Guarantee. When you apply Engenia herbicide according to label instructions and follow the below guidelines, we guarantee commercially acceptable weed control. If, within 30 days of the final post-emergence application, less than commercially acceptable weed control on labeled weeds is experienced, talk to your retailer or BASF representative for respray assistance on the affected acre. Grower may be eligible for financial assistance up to $10 per acre toward the cost of herbicides associated with a respray.

Weed Management Requirements

  1. Use adequate tillage or a BASF burndown herbicide.
  2. Pre-plant or Preemerge
    • Option 1: Zidua® PRO herbicide
    • Option 2: Zidua herbicide plus other site of action herbicide such as Sharpen® herbicide or Verdict® herbicide
  3. Postemerge
    • Apply Engenia herbicide plus Outlook® herbicide or Zidua herbicide

Weed Height

Spray existing weeds up to 4" tall.

Application Requirements

Apply according to labeled requirements.
Additional state restrictions may apply.
